Social Committee

The Social Committee will be responsible for the many social activities that SYPA has throughout the year. The goal of the committee is to create and arrange social events for members and to make them more aware of fun activities in the Shoals, including social, sporting, and cultural events. The committee's emphasis is on the "play" portion of SYPA's mission of making the Shoals a great place to live, work, and play.

Some of the events that we are planning each month include:
• A monthly happy hour at a different locale each month
• Sporting events
• Events at local Shoals area attractions
• Events that benefit charities involved with our Charitable committee

Outreach Committee

The goal of the SYPA Outreach Committee will be to connect young professionals with non-profit organizations throughout the Shoals area. Each month, the Charitable Committee will meet to determine ways to bring charities and young people together through a variety of donation events, After Hours tours, lunch and learn programs, and volunteer opportunities.

SYPA encourages all members to donate at least 10 hours to area organizations, and will recognize any current members that reach that goal. In January, SYPA will recognize all members who have completed at least 10 hours of volunteer work, their employer, and the amount of hours reported.

Civic Committee

The Civic Committee strives to provide opportunities for SYPA members to get educated about and involved in various business, community and governmental activities. It is our goal to make sure members have the tools and resources they need to be active members of the Shoals area, as well as the State of Alabama. The committee will work closely with the Outreach and Social Committees of SYPA as partners on many activities.

Some of the events to be scheduled:
• Monthly Lunch N’ Learns with business and governmental leaders
• Mayor’s Forum
• Voter Registration Drive
• Inclusion in various Shoals Chamber events like Business After Hours

SYPA and the Civic Committee will work to provide our members with a variety of opportunities to interact with political candidates and officers from all political parties. It is the intent of SYPA to provide a non-partisan view of political candidates and issues. Our goal is to make opportunities and resources available to help members make informed political decisions and actively participate in their communities.

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee of SYPA is a group of young marketing professionals who will work to facilitate communication within SYPA as well as between SYPA and the public.

If you're interested in joining the Marketing Committee, please contact Ben Newbern. It's a great way to improve your marketing skills, make a difference with a very visible organization and work with talented individuals from within the Shoals Chamber of Commerce.

Professional Development Committee

The SYPA Professional Development Committee will strive to provide our members with opportunities for professional growth and networking. It is our goal to make sure members have the tools and resources needed to enrich their career experiences within the Shoals area.

Each month, the committee will meet to determine ways to bring professional development opportunities to our members. We want to ensure that we provide beneficial opportunities and resources to positively impact your career goals.

Some of the professional development plans for this coming year include:
• Monthly speaking engagements on a variety of business-related topics
• Tools and resources available within the SYPA Web site
• Business partnerships to foster professional networking and career growth
